The University of Montana spectrUM Discovery Area invites applications for a Director who is committed to spectrUM’s mission of promoting a culture of learning and discovery for all. The spectrUM Discovery Area is UM’s hands-on science center, located in Missoula, MT and housed inside the Missoula Public Library. The Director will steward spectrUM’s mission and strategic planning cycle, collaborate with UM faculty to implement research broader impacts, and lead the implementation of spectrUM’s fundraising and development strategy. They will oversee engagement with spectrUM’s advisory board in addition to place-based advisory groups for programming that takes place external to the museum. The director will supervise two associate directors and will indirectly oversee all of spectrUM’s full-time, part-time, and student employees.

The Senior Director of Guest Experience leads strategy development and implementation of an integrated Birch Aquarium at Scripps guest experience and oversees three core departments that most directly design spaces and experiences as well as; interface with guests: Education, Exhibits, and Guest Services. This position ensures the highest levels of guest service and team engagement while working collaboratively across the organization to optimize revenues and mission impact.
The position will apply best practices for understanding and improving a broadly defined user interface, commanding every aspect of the guest journey, from pre-arrival through departure, ensuring the Birch guest experience is unique, consistent, and exceeds guests’ expectations.
