Five ASTC members have been announced as finalists for the 2021 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. Awarded by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the National Medal is the nation’s highest honor given to museums and libraries that demonstrate excellence in service to their communities.
In the past 15 years, the award has been bestowed upon 170 institutions, including 22 ASTC members.

The winners of the National Medal will be announced in May, with a virtual ceremony and celebration to be held this summer.
Over the next couple of months, IMLS will showcase the excellent community work of all of the finalists through its Share Your Story social media campaign. Those who have been impacted by this important work are encouraged to share their memories using the hashtag #IMLSMedals on Facebook and Twitter.
